HC Cultural Centre

Lim Koon Park

Architecture, Building and Structure Design HC Cultural Centre by Lim Koon Park Titled Shan Shui Shi Lin (mountain water rock forest), the project is imagined as a Chinese landscape painting, one of the oldest art forms in Chinese culture. The architects had adopted the compositional techniques of a Chinese landscape painting to create a more layered visual experience. With the school’s clock tower resting in the far background, the mid-ground defined by two blocks, and the new block strategically oriented to embrace the foreground of curated rock-scape and landscape, the project becomes an exploration for translating visual pleasure into a functional built form.
